Description

Tall Fescue has a variable texture - old varieties are quiet coarse, while new(er) varieties are medium- to fine-textured or even finer. The density of Tall Fescue is moderate to low, the grass possesses a deep coarse root system and grows as either a "bunch grass" or by undergound rhizomes (roots) (Aldous and Chivers, 2002). Other comments

Tall fescue will withstand moderate to heavy wear once firmly established. The grass retains in colour and vogour under various stresses in comparison to other cool-season turf species (Aldous & Chivers, 2002).
