In Northern Queensland and the Northern Territory, the locals commonly refer to Tropical Buffalo or North QLD Buffalograss. They are not referring to the Stenotaphrum secundatum (buffalograss), but a Axonopus compressus or more commonly a mixture with a form of green couch (Cynodon sp.). The combination sward is commonly seen in the tropics for various reasons and with locals it is routinely seen as the norm.
