Description:

Parasitic wasps:

Parasitic wasps are a good indicator you have lawn grubs in your turf. Parasitic wasps are female beneficial adult wasps that lay eggs on or into a host moth caterpillar such as lawn armyworm. Parasitic wasps can be orange and red in colour or black and blue.

Predatory wasps:

A predatory wasp catches and kills lawn grubs for food for the wasp itself or its young.

 

Susceptible Turf:

Warm-and cool-season turf grass varieties.

 

Control options:

  • Pesticides: No control is warranted for the wasps as they are beneficial insects. However, refer to our lawn grub page for further information and control options.
  • Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Nil.
  • Cultural: Nil.
  • Mechanical: Nil.
