Kikuyu
KIK203 (protected by Australian Plant Breeder's Rights); Kenda® (is a registered trade mark of Ozbreed Pty Ltd).
Kenda® kikuyu turf is a male sterile kikuyu variety, meaning it does not produce unsightly seed heads and won't spread like older common kikuyu. Kenda kikuyu has a dark green colour which remains dominant during cooler months. Kenda kikuyu spreads by above ground stolons and underground rhizomes which both aid with turf recovery and provide improved turf density compared to older kikuyu varieties. Kenda kikuyu produces a dense turf canopy which is soft underfoot and when left unmown, is shorter than common kikuyu grasses. Kenda kikuyu also has low allergenic characteristics.
Kenda® kikuyu has been used within domestic and commercial lawns, sporting fields, parks, golf courses, racecourses, amenity areas and for erosion control.
