Kikuyu
'MU2' (Australian Plant Breeder's Rights).
Eureka Kikuyu® is a registered trade mark used by Lawn Solutions Australia (LSA). Eureka Kikuyu is an overarching trade mark provided by LSA to include a number of kikuyu (Pennisetum clandestinum) turf varieties being grown by the LSA Membes/Turf Producers e.g. Eureka Kikuyu could be common kikuyu or another variety. Please check with your Eureka Kikuyu supplier to identify the origin and name of the turfgrass and refer back to TurfFinder.com to obtain the relevant information on the known variety.
Eureka Kikuyu is a male-sterile Australian kikuyu variety. Eureka Kikuyu was chosen for having a deeper green colour and a superior disease tolerance (including to rust; causal organism Phakopsora apoda). Eureka Kikuyu has an extensive rhizome and fibrous root system which enables the variety to hold together better following harvesting in sod rolls compared to ‘Crowne’ and “Common” kikuyu varieties. This enables greater recovery and provides improved drought tolerance.
