Monaco is an improved seeded green couch variety that is dark green and is well adapted to most soils and grows the best in warm-season climates. Monaco has a fast establishment rate by spreading by both rhizomes and stolons to form a dense turfgrass. It has high wear, drought, heat and salt tolerance.
For best results, Monaco should be planted in areas of full sunlight when soil temperatures reach 18° C and rising. Seeding rate is 1 to 1.5 kg per 100 m2 of Monaco seed in a well prepared firm seedbed. Cover seed with no more than 6 mm of soil. Maintain adequate soil moisture around seed using frequent but light irrigation. Commence mowing approx. 3-4 weeks after germination, or at such time the turfgrass will withstand mowing. During the grow-in phase, it is recommended to apply a starter fertiliser at recommended rate after emergence and a complete fertiliser following this each month of the growing season.
