Cynodon dactylon
Green couch
Windsor Green (formerly protected by Australian Plant Breeder's Right and New Zealand Plant Variety Rights).
Windsor Green is a medium- to fine-textured green couch turfgrass that produced superior density, colour and wear tolerance as well as lower seed head production (McMaugh, 1993) compared to other "grasses" back in the day. The variety also grew well in low temperatures. However, in comparion to newer varieties, Windsor Green is considered an acceptable turfgrass, but it may be difficult to find reliable clean stock of what is regarded as true-to-type Windsor Green.
Windsor Green released in 1993, was selected following breeding techniques using the maternal turfgrass 'Wintergreen'.
