Description:

Family: Fabaceae/ sub-family Mimosacae. Creeping annual or perennial weed, yet can grow to 15 cm up to 45 cm tall. Flowers are pink or purple in colour and are the shape of fluffy balls. Fern like leaves close up and droop when touched and at night. Seeds in pods split into single seeded segments bearing bristles. Prickly stem becomes creeping/trailing with age and can produce a dense cover.. Full sun and light shade. Drought and frost tender. Nitrogen fixing – can be an indicator of poor soil fertility. Spread by seed and runners.
